28/6/2014 – Hoi An
Went for a bike ride today, leaving at 7am before it got hot. Rode through rice paddies, back lanes and quiet streets. Got to see duck farmers, a ferry, the new bridge and semi rural life around hoi an. Was an enjoyable ride.
Came back and jumped in a car to go to Marble Mountain, naturally enough home to buddhist temples. The views around the area from the top were quite spectacular, and you could see just how flat the area was.
For a supposedly sacred site, they charge tourists to go in, they have security guards around the place & even somebody in one of the caves to take photos for money. Can see why Jesus got angry in the temple & kicked out the money changers & said it had been turned into a den of thieves. Went to another buddah statue, Lady Buddah, in Da Nang on the Son Tra Penisula, which happened to have great views of the ocean & coast, back to Hoi An for a fitting of my hiking pants, a quick ride around the river side and that was the day.
