Day 16 – Sow with expectation

Day 16 – Many have never been taught to sow with an expectation of a return

The seeds we sow don’t necessarily have to be financial.  It can be forgiveness, grace, love – whatever you need.

But when you sow, sow with expectation.  Sow, expecting something in return.  “When I give to God, I expect nothing in return” is often a prideful claim of many who don’t fully understand God’s teaching in this area.  We expect a salary in return for working, we expect forgiveness in return for confessing our sins and in accordance with God’s word, we should expect a return from the seed we sow.  Heb 11:6 puts it like this “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. “

We find many examples in the Bible where Jesus tells us of the reward for being obedient.  Luke 6:38 “Give and it shall be given to you…”, Prov 3:9-10 “Honour the LORD with your possessions, And with the first fruits of all your increase; So your barns will be filled with plenty, And your vats will overflow with new wine.”.  Read Mal 3:10, Deut 28:1-14, Mark 10:28-30, even the woman at the well was promised she would never thirst again if she drank of His water (John 4:14).  Many times we see that God promises blessings to us in return for obeying Him, which includes giving.  Expect protection, expect wisdom, expect your enemies to flee, expect financial ideas, expect living water.

Is it wrong to expect a return?  No, we’re told to!

This is a summary, from chapter 16, 31 Reasons people do not receive their financial harvest, written by Mike Murdock.
