Kampala Museum

If you’ve got an hour or so spare in Kampala, head out to the museum. It’s not all that spectacular compared to some of the museums in Australia, but you can learn something if you’re willing and they do a good job of trying to educate the people about their country.
These are some of the traditional mud and bark huts at the museum in Kampala. The walls are made of mud, covered in a bark roof. Different areas of Uganda have different types of huts. They’re actually quite roomy inside too. We just managed to see these before they closed this part of the museum to finalise preparations for a wedding. Once you get away from the main city, and out into the rural areas, there’s still quite a few mud huts like these ones. In the smaller towns and outer suburbs of Kampala, they have mud buildings, but most are square, not round and have a tin roof.
